Choose the U42 for a suitable potable cold-water line and the U70 for a suitable hot-water line. The U42 is a multi-jet dry-type meter for DN15-DN20 connections. The U70 is an ultrasonic hot-water meter for DN15-DN40 connections. Temperature class and service come first; only then compare flow, installation and data-output variants.

Write down whether the line carries potable cold water or hot water, its normal and maximum temperature, the pipe's nominal size and the meter's installation location. A temperature class printed for one device must not be assumed to apply to the other. Check the project specification and the selected variant's current datasheet before ordering.
Check flow by size, not by family name
Both product pages now show size-specific flow information. For the U42, the published permanent flow Q3 is 2.5 m3/h at DN15 and 4 m3/h at DN20. The U70 has multiple Q3/Q1 ratio variants and a separate model-specific Q1-Q4 table covering DN15-DN40. Select the exact size and range variant from that table; do not use a single family-wide flow figure as a substitute for the required duty point.
Plan the reading path before the installation
The U42's standard optical reading and optional pulse-output version imply different field-data arrangements. The U70 lists wired and wireless output options, but an option must be specified and confirmed for the ordered model. Before commissioning, document the meter ID, communication variant, register or pulse interpretation, units, timestamp policy and receiving system. These are project checks, not claims that every communication option is present on every unit.
Five checks for the purchase specification
- Confirm water service, operating temperature and required temperature class.
- Match nominal diameter, installation length and connection type to the actual pipework.
- Compare the expected minimum, normal and peak flow with the chosen model's published table.
- Specify the exact reading or communication variant and how it will reach the AMR or building system.
- Confirm access, power or battery requirements, commissioning records and the final order code with the supplier.
For the current dimensions, flow tables and downloadable PDFs, use the U42 product page and U70 product page. The datasheet for the actual ordered variant remains the final technical reference.
