A promising water-technology demonstration is not yet a deployable building system. In its 14 October announcement, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) says the India/Bharat pavilion at WETEX 2026 will include companies in water technology, automation, process analytics and facilities intelligence. WETEX is scheduled for 20-22 October at Dubai World Trade Centre. The exhibitors' actual products and results have not yet been verified by this article.
The procurement question behind the demonstration
For a property portfolio, the issue is whether new hardware can join the existing meter estate without losing billing traceability. A buyer should request a sample data payload, a protocol map and a documented exception workflow. A dashboard screenshot alone cannot establish accuracy, interoperability or a reliable operating cost.
Five checks before a pilot
- Confirm the meter's measurement range and approved application against the actual pipe and water conditions.
- Identify whether readings are available through M-Bus, Modbus, LoRaWAN or another specified interface, including the exact variant offered.
- Test time stamps, units, pulse multipliers and missing-read handling from field device to AMR platform.
- Ask who can export raw readings and how long calibration, firmware and support records are retained.
- Agree the pilot's acceptance criteria before installation: data availability, reconciliation effort and response time for faults.
These are ConnectME procurement recommendations, not DEWA conditions or an endorsement of any pavilion vendor. Owners comparing ultrasonic water meters with other meter types should score the complete data chain, not just the sensor price.
