- Multi-meter billing (Electricity/Gas/Water/Chilled Water/Hot Water) in a single bill.
- Smart valve interface for disconnection/reconnection.
Use-case: This is very relevant for property-managers, multi-tenant buildings, district metering schemes in the GCC where a single utility bill needs to combine multiple services (electricity, water, chilled water etc.) and be allocated to tenants or sub-units. The BMS/valve integration is a strong differentiator when one wants automated control and robust allocation.
4. UBILL IBM Enterprise
This is the high-end enterprise version built on the IoT/big-data platform, suitable for large utilities, municipalities, or regional deployments. Its features include:
- MDMS (Meter Data Management System) with advanced analytical methods and robust VEE (Validation, Estimation & Editing) algorithms covering AMR & meter data validation.
- Customer advanced billing module: automated billing, multi-meter & multiple tariff assignments, customer & tenant management including dispute handling.
- Customizable accounting module, multi-user admin rights, API interface to SAP/Oracle and other ERP systems.
- Payment gateways, ticketing system for customer service/maintenance teams. Automated notifications (Email/SMS/WhatsApp) for invoices, payment reminders, etc.
- Billing as a Managed Service option.
Use-case: When a GCC utility, or a large real estate portfolio (spanning multiple buildings or free‐zone precincts) wants a full end-to-end solution: data collection, analytics, billing, customer engagement, ERP integration, multiple tariff structures (peak/off-peak, consumption thresholds). This is clearly built for scale.
5. UBILL PREPAID AMI
This module is tailored to prepaid billing use-cases:
- Integration of utility meters, network infrastructure for data collection, head-end system, payment gateways and utility company’s customer management for accounting, consumption history & top-ups.
- Auto cut-off feature based on recharge amount balance and consumption.
- Multi‐tariff / multi‐slab assignments.
- Multi payment gateway integration. Customer login for consumption & payments. Consumption-based usage alerts including low balance.
Use-case: In markets in the GCC where pre-paid energy or water services are being piloted, this module provides customer self-service, top-up portals, consumption alerts, and automatic cut-off when balance is exhausted. Especially useful in remote or communal facilities.
6. UBILL VCM (Valve Control Management)
This is a specialized module for valve/disconnection management:
- Valve live monitor & control. Bulk valve ON & OFF. Bulk valve import/export option. Reports in one click. Multi-building valve management. Valve operations history. Auto Email/WhatsApp/SMS and scheduler for different level users.
Use-case: In water or chilled water applications (or in multi-unit townhouse/commercial developments) where the operator needs the ability to remotely disconnect/reconnect supply (for non-payment, maintenance or operational operations). In GCC environments, this is particularly important given the large number of multi-tenant plots, villas, commercial centers, and sometimes seasonal occupancy.
Why UBILL is Relevant to the GCC Market
UBILL ties into the specific needs and conditions of the GCC region.
- Rapidly growing real estate & multi-tenant developments Cities such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Riyadh are full of large mixed-use towers, free-zone campuses, multi-tower residential complexes and integrated utility supply (electricity, water, chilled water, gas). The need for accurate sub‐metering and tenant billing is growing. A solution like UBILL (especially IBM/Enterprise) enables property developers/managers to allocate consumption fairly, integrate multiple utility services in one bill, reduce disputes, and improve cash flow.
- High expectation for digital service & customer experience GCC customers expect instant digital access (portals, mobile access) for viewing consumption, paying bills, receiving invoices via email/WhatsApp etc. UBILL’s modules (especially IBM/Enterprise and Prepaid) provide automated notifications, customer portals, top-up capabilities – aligning well with the smart city agendas in the region.
- Diverse utilities & tariff structures In the GCC you often have chilled water, district cooling, hot water, electricity, water, and gas – all needing to be integrated. UBILL IBM/Enterprise supports multi‐meters, multi‐tariffs, multi‐utilities in a single invoice, which is a critical capability.
- Prepaid billing and consumption management In some GCC regions, there is interest in prepaid metering (especially in remote areas or rental villas/seasonal occupancy). UBILL Prepaid AMI addresses this requirement, enabling consumers to be prepaid, receive alerts, and operators to control cut-off – helping manage non-payment risk and consumption.
- Large scale urban infrastructure and IoT readiness With smart city initiatives, infrastructure roll-out of AMI, LoRaWAN, NB-IoT is underway in GCC. UBILL’s big data, MDMS, API integration and support for IoT/AMR positions it well to support rollouts in GCC.
- Operational cost pressures & sustainability Utilities and property owners are under pressure to reduce leakages, manage energy & water consumption, and enforce efficiencies. Accurate metering, data analytics, and smart billing help reduce wastage, improve ESG reporting, and reduce non-revenue water/energy losses.
- Regulatory and consumer transparency GCC markets are moving toward more transparency in billing, consumption reporting, measurement standards and consumer rights. The validation/estimation features of UBILL IBM Enterprise (VEE algorithms) help ensure meter data integrity – an important factor for utilities/regulators in the region.
The UBILL suite from ConnectME Solutions presents a strong, modular offering for utility meter reading, management and billing — especially well‐suited for the demanding GCC environment. From basic M-Bus network readout (UBILL MBusReader) to full utility enterprise billing and analytics (UBILL IBM Enterprise), and including prepaid metering and valve management, the offering spans the full value chain.
